The Agronomy Department’s extension program provides students with important hands-on training, as well as provides services and support for local farmers, including technical assistance on topics such as crop rotation and organic production. Current initiatives at the College include a model vegetable garden, recycling and compost center, plant nursery, and coffee production.
The Agronomy Department, which requires 42 courses within the major and an additional 23 elective courses throughout the five-year program, fosters an awareness of the needs and realities of the rural area and prepares graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a variety of areas, including sustainable agriculture, rural economics, and environmental science.
All graduates are required to complete a thesis project or business plan to graduate from the UAC-CP.
