Founded in 2006, the College’s Research Institute is the only investigative center of its kind in both the South and North Yungas. One of its primary roles is to host bi-annual competitive science fairs that exhibit students’ investigative projects that address affordable solutions for common problems facing the rural sector.
The Institute is currently working with the Universidad Mayor San Andres (UMSA), the public university of La Paz, to develop a master’s degree program in research methods specifically for UAC-CP faculty and graduates. In 2011 the Institute worked on a joint project in ethics and indigenous research with South Dakota State University.
The Research Institute also manages the Thesis Boot Camp program, which provides theses students with the resources necessary to research, organize, write, and defend thesis projects—a graduation requirement.
