CPF Mourns Passing of Fr. Tom Garvey

Carmen Pampa Fund is saddened to share the news that Fr. Tom Garvey, a founding member of the College and Carmen Pampa Fund, passed away on Saturday, December 16th from complications of Alzheimer's.

Fr. Tom, affectionately called "Garv" by his friends, served for many years as a priest in the Twin Cities metro. His work included Archdiocesan-level religious education leadership and campus ministry education at St. Catherine University, St. Paul. He was a very strong advocate for church reform and peace and social justice issues, both locally and internationally.

A close friend of UAC-CP founders Dick and Ann Leahy, Fr. Tom was an enthusiastic and strong supporter of the College in Carmen Pampa from the very beginning. In addition to being a faithful and generous donor to Carmen Pampa Fund, Fr. Tom also helped CPF raise funds and awareness by sharing the story of the UAC-CP at parishes throughout Minnesota dioceses. In 2016, Carmen Pampa Fund initiated the "Give Like Garv Fund" in honor of Fr. Tom.

Fr. Tom's funeral Mass will be at St. Frances Cabrini church, Minneapolis, on Friday, December 29th, at 11 a.m. with a reviewal preceding at 10 a.m. There will also be a reviewal at the church on Thursday, December 28th, from 4-7 p.m., followed by a prayer service.
