CPF Executive Director Bids Farewell

CPF Executive Director Hugh Smeltekop has announced that he will be stepping down from his leadership role.
In a letter sent to CPF donors Hugh reminded friends of the late Argentine folk singer Mercedes Sosa’s song called “Todo Cambia.” Everything changes. He then explained the reason for the change and his transition to a new professional opportunity.
“I was recently offered a position working with the faculty and student mentors at the University of St. Thomas here in St. Paul, Minnesota. It’s an exciting new opportunity for me, but it means that I will be stepping down as executive director at Carmen Pampa Fund.
Hugh’s service to Carmen Pampa Fund and the College started 20 years ago when he first arrived to Carmen Pampa to volunteer. For 15 years, he served in various roles – including Director General of the College for the 2013 academic year. In 2014 Hugh was asked to work as executive director of Carmen Pampa Fund.
“I always said that the best part of my job at the College was the students.e to say that the best part of my job at Carmen Pampa Fund has been YOU. I’ve loved learning what inspires you to support Carmen Pampa Fund and the young Bolivians who study at the College in Carmen Pampa.”
“Mercedes Sosa’s song ends: “Pero no cambia mi amor, por más lejos que me encuentre.” “No matter how far away I am, my love doesn’t change.” Carmen Pampa Fund and the College will forever occupy a special place in my heart. I am grateful for the opportunity to have lived and served for so many years at the College, and to have worked in solidarity with you to deepen the ability of the College to transform the lives of Bolivians through education.”
